LLOYD REES, (1895-1988)
Lloyd Rees was predominantly a landscape painter who twice won the Wynne Prize for his landscape paintings. Most of Rees' works are preoccupied with depicting the effects of light and emphasis is placed on the harmony between man and nature. He travelled extensively within Australia capturing the natural beauty of this country, from outback ranges, Sydney Harbour and untouched coastlines. Rees worked in various mediums including drawing, printmaking and painting. He often sketched and painted en plein air (outside) and there is a gobsmacking beautiful painting at the Wagga Art Gallery on show at the moment that is part of their collection. Dusk in the Harbour has a beautiful texture from the mesh screen used during printing and also has gorgeous soft colours throughout.
Medium: Dusk in the Harbour, screen-print, edition 110/185. These hand written notes at the bottom of the artwork have had to be covered up as the artwork is an unusual shape. However they are intact and photos of the signature, title and edition number have been taken for authenticity.
Size: 88 x 96.5 cm, frame 105 x 113cm Please note that this is a very large artwork that is too big for Australia Post, it can be picked up from Wagga or sent via courier. Please email Jackie if needed.
