LLOYD REES (1895-1988)
Lloyd Rees was predominantly a landscape painter who twice won the Wynne Prize for his landscape paintings. Most of Rees' works are preoccupied with depicting the effects of light and emphasis is placed on the harmony between man and nature. He travelled extensively within Australia capturing the natural beauty of this country, from outback ranges, Sydney Harbour and untouched coastlines. Rees worked in various mediums including drawing, printmaking and painting. ‘Timeless Cliffs’ is a beautiful large scale etching which captures the rugged Australian landscape. Rees has used free flowing lines and bold colour in this artwork.
